I’ve been watching a few people play Spyro Reignited since I don’t have a system to play it on, and I was expecting to be reminded of which of the three Spyro games is my favorite by seeing them all in a new light, but… They’re all so good in their own way.

The first Spyro has some of the most visually pleasing level designs, and arguably the best collectibles. The diversity of the adult dragons was fun as a kid, and now with the designs much more polished and unique, rescuing the dragons is more enjoyable than ever. The bosses were easy, but I liked that the bosses had their own unique worlds they inhabited, which were fun to visit and offered their own unique challenges.

The second Spyro introduced hovering and swimming, making exploring the worlds more fun and fulfilling than ever. It also introduced more characters, filling the worlds with friendly inhabits that came with their own enjoyable cutscenes. I personally liked the concept of returning to old worlds with new, learned moves. The powerups requiring enemy kills wasn’t my favorite change made to the games (preferring gem drops from enemies), but they tried some new and fun things.

The third Spyro has cute baby dragons to collect, and while they aren’t as diverse or interesting as the adult dragons, they’re still cute and fun to collect. The game also introduces new characters to play as, each with their own unique play styles. The third Spyro sort of went a bit gung-ho with the mini games and the various controls they require, but it’s all fun. Who the fuck cares that the skateboard doesn’t control well when you are, in fact, a tiny purple dragon on a skateboard

Tl;dr: all of the Spyro games have their own merit and I love them all fairly equally.

“Looks like we’ve still got some things to do after all, old friend.”

Dragons may age differently than Dragonflies, but best friends always stick together 🐉🐝

Spyro & Sparx, all grown up! Spyro took up with the balloonists to see the worlds. This is Unofficial fanart in the Official style!
I saw a few interpretations of Elder Dragon Spyro floating around online (and of course the original from the old manual, which I referenced for this piece) and I had to try my hand! Drawing while my wife plays The Reignited Trilogy and having a great time- they’re actually like…really still fun to play :)))

Cynder Reignited!

I’m keen to explore what a gang of lady elder dragons might look like, but first things first: Cynder & Sting her dragonfly(esque) best bud, imagined in the style of the Reignited Trilogy.
Unofficial fanart for those who, like my wife, loved her lots!

I’ve been drawing while she plays, and taking her notes about how to adapt Cynder to the reimagined classic games. Lots of fun adapting the Legend stylings to the look we developed at Toys For Bob 🙂
